Phonics will be incorporated into day-to-day teaching. Some children will continue to receive intervention in a small groups with Mrs Wintz. Every child will read with us each week during guided reading sessions. Focus for this term is Beginning with God: Attainment TargetsTopic-related Targets Retell some special stories about religious events and people I can retell the story of Moses and the Burning Bush – characters, events and setting correctly. Exodus 3:1-13 Make links between religious stories and beliefs I can make links between scripture and the nature of God expressed in some Biblical metaphors Make links between religious stories and beliefs I can make links between Scripture and belief in the Trinitarian nature of God Describe and show understanding of religious sources, beliefs, ideas, feelings and experiences; making links between them I can describe and show understanding of God from two sources of revelation: Scripture and the Nicene Creed Identify sources of religious belief and explain how distinctive religious beliefs arise I can use 2 or more sources of revelation to show how belief in God as Trinity has developed over time “Together we grow in God’s love, learning to be the best we can be.”

Liturgies are held termly and are a celebration of prayer and learning. There is no obligation to attend all of them, but if you are unable to please inform your child and prepare them in advance. We appreciate many parents are busy and will give you as much notice as possible. “Together we grow in God’s love, learning to be the best we can be.”

Reading journals – weekly task from the list on our class page. Pupils need to complete one task and hand in on a Monday. Reading -Read each day 15 mins. Mathletics – 20 minutes x 3 per week. Spellings and activity – assessment Passport/Mental Maths/Times tables. We also have subscription to Mathletics and active learn, all pupils have their own individual log in. “Together we grow in God’s love, learning to be the best we can be.”

Recorder lesson from Mrs Kee. These are on a Monday afternoon, they are a great opportunity to learn an instrument and take part in the end of term concerts. Wednesday lunchtime – choir. “Together we grow in God’s love, learning to be the best we can be.” Recorders and choir

“Together we grow in God’s love, learning to be the best we can be.” We encourage children to bring a fruit or vegetable snack into school each day. Please avoid yogurt coated fruits and fruit flavoured foods as these can be particularly high in sugar.

“Together we grow in God’s love, learning to be the best we can be.” Will be updated by me at different points throughout the year (at least once every half term) with pictures, letters and information.

“Together we grow in God’s love, learning to be the best we can be.” Every child has their own blog and password. If you have the Internet at home please encourage them to use it regularly to share what they have been doing.

“Together we grow in God’s love, learning to be the best we can be.” Many mathematical and reading strategies that your children are being taught have been changed and modified over recent years. This can lead to parent feeling “out of the loop” with their child’s education. We do not want this! If ever you have any questions about the teaching methods used, please ask!
