1 Parent Information Session Wednesday 3 rd June 2015 Please help yourself to Tea and Coffee Enjoy a wander around the classroom and the garden. We will start the session at 9:30

2 The Foundation Stage Team I am Miss Mates and I am the Teaching Assistant in Robins on Thursday and Friday I am Mrs Dennis and I am the class teacher in Robins I am Mrs Waters and I am the Teaching Assistant in Robins Monday to Wednesday

3 Other Members of Staff I am Mrs Bone. I am the Head Teacher at Winterslow School I am Mrs Fullbrook. I am the Inclusion Manager at Winterslow School Other Staff Mrs Fortis- The Deputy Head teacher Mrs Callaway and Mrs Jackson- School Support Staff in the Office Mrs Fiona Wakeford- Runs WASPs before and after school club.

4 What can I expect in Reception? “What did you do at school today?” Usual answer “Just played” o Teaching and Learning through play-based activities- “Learn and Play” o An emphasis on developing skills of independence, confidence and perseverance o Continuous observation, support and challenge o A Learning Journey of photographs recording and celebrating knowledge and achievements

5 Preparation for September Teddy Bears Picnic - Thursday 16 th July (11:30-1:00) Each child will be introduced to their Year 6 Buddy. Parents and siblings are welcome to stay Please bring a teddy and some lunch Come and Play Sessions: Wednesday 24th June 9.30-11.30, Monday 29th June 9:30-11:30, Thursday 9th July 1:15-2:30 Tuesday 21st July 1.15-2.30 Please help your child settle by leaving as quickly as possible. We will ensure they are safe and happy during the session.

6 September Transition Information Arriving at School Reception children line up on the big playground behind the Robin sign (painted on the playground). Staggered Start For the first two weeks of school the children will all come in for the morning sessions. Younger children can be taken home for the afternoon if you feel that would benefit your child. After the initial two weeks all children will be in school full-time.

7 Collecting Your Child From Week Three your child will need to be collected from the Pergola at 2:55pm. If your child is not going home with you, please ensure you inform one of the Foundation Stage Team on the Playground in the morning. If your child is going to W.A.S.P.S one of the Foundation Stage will ensure they are taken into the after-school club and signed in.

8 Our School Uniform Girls Grey Skirt or pinafore dress, or grey tailored trousers Plain grey tights or white socks White blouse or polo shirt Royal blue cardigan or jumper During the summer a blue an white checked or striped dress Boys Grey trousers White shirt or polo shirt Royal blue jumper During the summer grey shorts Please clearly name EVERYTHING!!

9 Book Bag- These can be purchased from the School Office One key ring is acceptable No rucksacks please! PE Kit- Black or Navy shorts White t-shirt (or a school logo t-shirt) No trousers or footwear needed until the Summer Term Wellington Boots- A pair of welly boots to keep at school for the duration of the year Other Items

10 Hot Dinners Hot dinners are available every day with two options. A sneak preview at this term’s menu… http://www3.hants.gov.uk/hc3s/hc3s-primary/primarymenu.htm Every Friday there will be a menu choice for the following week. You can then choose, with your child, what they will eat each day.

12 Healthy Snack At School Every morning we have a healthy snack and a drink. Children are entitled to free milk until they are five years old.

13 Winterslow After School Provision W.A.S.P.S is open for breakfast club at 8:00am and operates until 6:00pm Monday to Friday (excluding Friday after school) Lots of extra-curricular activities are offered- football, cooking, model making and more! 14 Parental Involvement Within the Foundation Stage it is very important that parents are involved as much as possible in their child’s learning. We provide many opportunities throughout the year for parents to help: If you are available to help within our classroom throughout the year, please see Mrs Callaway to complete a CRB form. – Welly Walks – Home Learning Packs – Listening to Readers – Supporting Swimming – Sharing Learning Journeys – Parent Learning Workshops – Stay and Play Sessions – AND MUCH MORE!!

15 Additional Information Illness: Please call the school office as soon as possible to let us know that your child is ill and will not be attending school. Accidents: Children have lots of minor accidents, especially in the playground! These are dealt with by trained first-aiders and are treated as necessary. Members of the Foundation Stage Team have completed Paediatric First Aid Training. Attendance/Lateness- If for any reason you may be late to school, please endeavour to let the School Office know as soon as possible. School begins promptly at 9:00am. Lunch is at 12.00pm End of school day is at 2.55pm
