A Dream about the Redemption Genesis 28:10 And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. The rabbis teach that the words, "then Jacob departed," allude to the exile of the Jewish people from the land of Israel. "The words 'Then Jacob departed' correspond to the words in Jeremiah (15:1), 'Send them away from My presence and let them go!'"

A Dream about the Redemption The mystical Rabbi Ya'akov Birdugo explains that Jacob's dream pertains to the redemption: "He had a dream." This speaks of the time of the redemption when our service of God will be like a dream, as it says in Psalm 126:1, "When the LORD brought back the captive ones of Zion, we were like those who dream." (Shufreh eYa'akov)

Ladders and Angels Genesis 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.

Messiah is the Ladder Genesis 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. Genesis 28:12 He had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on [him]. John 1:51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

Stairway to Heaven Genesis 28:13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Anointing from Heaven Genesis 28:18 And Jacob rose up early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil upon the top of it. The oil was supplied to him from heaven in abundance, as though from a cruse full to the very top. (Genesis Rabbah 69:8)

Who Moved the Stone? Genesis 29:2-3 2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone was upon the well's mouth. 3 And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well's mouth in his place.

Weeping with Rachel Genesis 29:11 And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept. Jeremiah 31:15 Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
