GLOBAL DISCOVERY 2010: CHINA

What is Global Discovery? Funded by USC Upstate Office of Student Affairs and the Center for International Studies (CIS). Each year students are awarded an expense-paid trip to some international destination. Interested students must complete an application providing all supplemental materials and submit by March 5th to CIS.

Program Schedule Pre-departure course: May 10 -13 at USC Upstate May 15 departure from USA May 16 arrive on campus; welcome dinner May 17 walking tour of campus; tour of downtown; Chinese folk music May 18 Tai Chi; Chinese language; calligraphy and paper cutting classes May 19 Tai Chi; Chinese language; China Tea Culture; fitness activities May 20 Trip to Wuzhen May 21 Chinese language, painting; party May 22 Trip to Hangzhou

What is included? Housing in University dorms Meals Excursions to sites and cities of interest On-site tour leader Insurance Ground transportation to and from airport in China Roundtrip air transportation from USA to CHINA

What is NOT included? USC Upstate tuition (for 3-hr. course) Books Incidental/ personal expenses Costs of passport/visa

Estimated costs not covered: USC Upstate tuition: approx. $1,000 Incidental expenses: $150 Books and materials: $100 Passport/ visa: $250

How do I apply? Get an application Complete all requirements Submit to CIS by March 5, 2010

When will I know? All applications will be reviewed and candidates selected by March 26, 2010.
