W HAT DOES IT ALL MEAN ? The media center is used frequently by individual students and classes. However, it might be used more often if we had more up-to- date resources in the media center. On average, a media center collection should not be more than 5 years old. Unfortunately, the average age of the collection is 1993. Therefore, most of the materials in the media center are over 16 years old. In order to help solve this problem, I need to make sure media funding is used to purchase up-to-date materials. Therefore, I would like to request supplies from other funding available so that the majority of my funding can be spent on collection materials. I also need support to weed materials that are no longer relevant. It should not be the quantity of the materials, but the quality. I would also like to collaborate with more teachers so that I am impacting student learning. In order to accomplish this, I need help from administration to be able to plan with teachers while my paraprofessional stays in the media center. Finally, I plan to research grants where I can find more funding for my media center. I would like time to work with other teachers on grants that will benefit not only the media center, but classroom teachers as well. If supported, I feel that these steps will lead to continued improvement of the media center program.
