1. Making the School G.R.E.A.T. By Being Greener By: Sydney Tall and Dynasti King

2. Introduction At Meigs, we do a lot of things to help the Earth, for example, the recycling bins. But there is much more we can do to help. Of course, there are simplier ways that everyone knows how to help, but there are even more extrodinary ways, with and without using some of the 3 Rs, which are: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, of course.

3. Using a Better Search Engine We get on computers a lot, and usually go to a regular search engine. But, what we don't notice is how much killowatts are being wasted. We also don't realize we could be using something better, for example: Blackle. It's a Google Search Engine, but the screen is black. But, if you're looking for an image, that option isn't on Blackle, so you may have to use the original Google Search Engine. A picture of Blackle

4. Picking Up Trash I know that some of the classes at Meigs pick up trash, like when they go outside, but lots don't. So, when we or other classes go outside, it would be G.R.E.A.T. to carry a trashbag with us during recess. A school picking up trash A cartoon of recycling

5. Using Lightbulbs When we don't need them, we usually just keep lights on. And that's wasting energy that we could save for something that really does need energy. So, if we were just doing regular work, the lights in the classroom could be off. Which we hope they are self-efficient!!

6. Buying Recycled Items When school starts back, or in between school sememesters, people buy more school supplies. Now, supplies is being recycled. If it's Crayola, the supplies will have black tubes (markers). From other brands, there is also recycled paper, pencils, folders, etc. Mostly, anything is recycled now. 7. EekoHouse To learn more about energy, we should often go and check energy-saving websites. For example, EekoHouse. it's a website from PBS Kids, but, it helps you learn to save energy around a house that's wasting energy, and gives you several minutes to find everything before time runs out. And some of the techniques we learned can be used for school, too.

8. Energy Star Energy Star makes certain products that help save energy. Some can be used for school. They also have a kid's website, and that could help us learn to save energy.

9. Get Creative! Lastly, you could get creative in ways of saving energy, and reusing things. You could come up with really G.R.E.A.T. ideas. Let's save the planet together!
