10-07-2003EE planning meeting Lucie Linssen 2 Dee and Reg. Centre lab in B 168 80 m2 for regional centre / 120 m2 for Dee lab Space is presently being emptied C. Detraz is working on plans for setting-up of walls, roof, electricity, water, etc Plan to finish the space (real estate part, not tooling) for February 2004 ~100 kCHF needed for this lab (real estate part)

10-07-2003EE planning meeting Lucie Linssen 3 Dee lab Our objectives for various Dee lab equipment: Supercrystal manipulator IC responsibility, valid DALMEC solution found Probably deliverable ~ February 2004 Equipment for Dee dry mount Tooling for gluing of cooling tubes Pressure test equipment of cooling tubes Tooling, if any, for mounting of back plate + ring flange Target date : February 2004

10-07-2003EE planning meeting Lucie Linssen 4 Dee lab Modified OPAL frames Drawings ready => ~November 2003 Price offers => January 2004 Frames ready => May 2004 Further Dee lab tooling needed Dee lab test equipment: RAL/Saclay responsibility Further jigs, storage infrastructure, etc, to be defined Target date ~August 2004

10-07-2003EE planning meeting Lucie Linssen 5 Production rate for Dee assembly Our objective is: Have the Dee lab ready for SC mounting from August 2004 onwards 2 Dee’s are placed at the same time: 1 Dee for SC mounting, 1 Dee for mechanics mounting Production rates: Mount 4 SC per day => 40 days per Dee Various mechanics/cooling mount => 30 working days Total 70 working days for Dee #1 ~60 working days for Dee 2,3,4 each (but partly in parallel) We assume that we receive ~10 SC early, to test the procedures

10-07-2003EE planning meeting Lucie Linssen 6 Objectives for regional centre Assembly of full and partial SC in the same Regional Centre lab Collaborate with RAL and Russian labs to set up the tooling Try to find solutions to do part of the assembly (like end-stops) prior to arrival of crystals Objective for production rate: 10 SC per week (mixed full/partial) (production rate 50% during first ~2 months) Objective to have Regional Centre ready for receiving the first crystals in ??? August 2004 ……….Depending on help from outside TA1 group Cruising speed ~4-6 months later
7
10-07-2003EE planning meeting Lucie Linssen 7 Manpower for production Regional centre manpower estimate Assembly: ~4 persons Supervision: 1 physicist + 1 technician Dee lab manpower estimate Assembly: ~3 persons Calibration system mount: persons from Saclay Supervision: 1 physicist + 1 technician Of the above: TA1 will provide 2 technicians (supervision)
8
10-07-2003EE planning meeting Lucie Linssen 8 What we need to meet objectives Sufficient financial funding for the various tasks 1 additional designer + Daniel Lacroix until end 2004 1 additional mechanical technician (Russia?) throughout 2004 (to help building tooling etc.) Manpower for “assembly” tasks (see previous slide) Physicists for Regional Centre and for setting-up test equipment Enough Crystals to build ~10 supercrystals at CERN in 2004 Caveat: Dry mount of major mechanics + Dummy Dee’s + Precabling + E0’ test beam need to be done during the same period
