By March 1991, Iraq retreated from Kuwait After only 1 month of bombings, the U.S.-led coalition gained air supremacy; destroyed Iraqi supply routes & communications; limited Iraq's ability to produce nuclear or chemical weapons

29 Domestic Challenges Companies began to downsize and lay off workers. With a growing deficit, Bush increased taxes and cut spending. Election of 1992 –Republican- George H.W. Bush Blamed congressional Democrats for challenges that the nation faced. –Democrat- Bill Clinton Promised to cut middle class taxes, reduce gov’t spending and reform the nation’s health care and welfare programs. –3 rd Party- Ross Perot Stressed the need to end deficit spending.
