Cheer Clinic CHS would like to thank the following Partners In Education (PIE). Cross Points Baptist Church landscaped the front flower bed and Dollar General donated school supplies. Dear Parent/Guardians, As we approach the end of the first quarter, I want to thank you for your support and assistance to this point in the school year. We’ve had a great start to this school year and have made additional changes to assist in meeting the needs of our students. Using data from the past school year, we’ve developed a comprehensive school improvement plan called e-CIP which will be available for your viewing very soon. I ask for your support by encouraging your child to attend school daily, to complete assignments, to be an active participant in classes, to follow school rules, to attend after school tutoring when needed, to retest when given the opportunity, to study and prepare for assessments, and to monitor your child’s grades on a regular basis. End of Quarter exams will be given October 11th and 13th. Make sure that your student spends adequate study time in preparing for these all important test. Remember they count twenty percent (20%) of their final average. After school tutoring will continue to be available Tuesday through Thursday for those students who need additional support in preparing them for the end of quarter exams. Statewide Parenting Day will be October 24th. I invite you to come out and be a part of this day. Activities will be planned throughout the day, and you will also have an opportunity to pick up your child’s report card. Report cards not picked up by parents will be sent home at the end of the day by the students. Please set up conferences with teachers if your child is struggling in a particular class. It is important that we address any failing grades immediately. Also, I need your assistance in another matter that must be addressed. Students are having lunches delivered to them during the lunch waves. This is very difficult to monitor and is a practice that is not approved. If your child does not want to eat in the cafeteria they will need to bring a lunch with them to school. There will be no food deliveries during lunch waves. This creates a multitude of problems for administration and unsafe situations for our students. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. 2. ROTC will take a trip to the Battleship Alabama with School Board Member, Mr. Megginson on October 4. October 19 ROTC will hold their orienteering and have a map, compass reading exercise at Scoutshire Woods. The Saber Team and Honor Guard will also participate in CHS Homecoming festivities. This is available to any youth cheerleaders. The girls will do a pre-game dance and cheer during 1 quarter of the Friday night football game. Supplies needed are Toothpaste, Toothbrush, deodorant, Shampoo, Coffee, Can tuna, Single serve flavor packets for water The Scholar’s Bowl team traveled to Faulkner St. for its first match on Sept. 15th. The varsity was 3 for 4, defeating LeFlore, Theodore & Williamson. The JV team defeated Theodore & Williamson. High scorer was Carl Thomas. Our next match is Thursday, Oct. 6th. Students were able to choose a bridge anywhere in the country and research things including: who built it, when it was built, how many tons it can hold, who was it named after, the length, and how triangles are crucial to its design. Also, some students took advantage of the extra credit assignment of actually building a model of the bridge. Her classes enjoyed this activity and they were able to see and apply how triangles are used in the world around us.
