1. The Little Red Hen

2. One day as the Little Red Hen was scratching in a field, she found a grain of wheat. “This wheat should be planted” she said. “Who will help me plant this grain of wheat?”

3. “I wont,” meowed the cat. “I wont.”

4. “I wont,” squeaked the mouse. “I wont.”

5. “I wont,” baaed the sheep. “I wont.”

6. “Then I will,” clucked the Little Red Hen. And she did. “Then I will.”

7. Soon the wheat grew to be tall and yellow.

8. “The wheat is ripe,” clucked the Little Red Hen. “Who will help me to cut it?”

9. “I wont,” meowed the cat. “I wont.”

10. “I wont,” squeaked the mouse. “I wont.”

11. “I wont,” baaed the sheep. “I wont.”

12. “Then I will,” clucked the Little Red Hen. And she did. “Then I will.”

13. When the wheat was cut, the Little Red Hen said, “Who will help me to thresh the wheat?”

14. “I wont,” meowed the cat. “I wont.”

15. “I wont,” squeaked the mouse. “I wont.”

16. “I wont,” baaed the sheep. “I wont.”

17. “Then I will,” clucked the Little Red Hen. And she did. “Then I will.”

18. When the wheat was threshed, the Little Red Hen said, “Who will help me take this wheat to the mill?”

19. “I wont,” meowed the cat. “I wont.”

20. “I wont,” squeaked the mouse. “I wont.”

21. “I wont,” baaed the sheep. “I wont.”

22. “Then I will,” clucked the Little Red Hen. And she did. “Then I will.”

23. So she took the wheat to the mill and it had to be ground into flour. Then she said, “Who will help make this flour into bread?”

24. “I wont,” meowed the cat. “I wont.”

25. “I wont,” squeaked the mouse. “I wont.”

26. “I wont,” baaed the sheep. “I wont.”

27. “Then I will,” clucked the Little Red Hen. And she did. “Then I will.”

28. She made and baked the bread. Then she said, “Who will help me to eat the bread?

29. “I will!” meowed the cat. “I will!”

30. squeaked the mouse. “I will!”

31. baaed the sheep. “I will!”

32. “No, No!” said the Little Red Hen. “I will do that.” And she did! “I will do that!”

33. Reflection… How do you think the Little Red Hen felt doing all the work by herself? How do you think she felt when the other animals wanted to eat the bread? How do you think the other animals felt when the Little Red Hen told them that they could not eat the bread? What lesson did the other animals learn?
