Italian Writers Dante Alighieri – Dante wrote in Italian, not Latin – The Divine Comedy was his major work. It was an imaginary journey through the past. Niccolo Machiavelli – In 1513 wrote The Prince – Machiavelli wrote advice to leaders on how to rule. – He was interested in the “here and now”.
