Dali’s Life Salvador Dali was born May 11, 1904 in Figueres, Spain. He studied art at the Fernando Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. He came to be known as the leader of the Surrealist Movement.

Time to Write! Look at the following painting and write using flow-of-consciousness for 5 to 10 minutes. (This is a practice in surrealist writing. Flow-of- consciousness means to think as little as possible and let what ever your brain feels or thinks flow out of your hand and into the paper. It doesn’t have to make sense or have correct grammar or even complete sentences. Let the painting inspire you as Dali’s dreams inspired him.)
