The IT Problem Two approaches teenage sex education  1 a personal approach  A population approach

The personal approach The drop in clinic Advisory service Help line etc Advantages Very effective once approach made Disadvantages Dependant on Professional with skills Very expensive Often only approached in crisis

A population approach Sex education in schools Internet sites, books etc Advantages Every body can get, relatively cheap Disadvantages Either no match of education to need or has to be searched for to access

Teenagers need and wants Research finding suggest knowledge Knowledge comes from education Teenagers want knowledge Don’t want ‘Education’ Want ‘Entertainment’

Professionals wants and needs Accurate health education Effective outcomes Access Low costs Population wide access Easy implementation and propagation

The touch screen solution can give easy universal access accurate information Is a fixed asset so is seen as a reliable information source Does not make judgements (have personality) Is easy to propagate

To create the BITE system Looked at teenagers and professional needs Created a interactive program to hold attention Made it personal Made it look seem like entertainment Gave it levels of knowledge Made it multi path
