Catalyst is something that speeds up a chemical reaction Biological catalyst speeds up reactions in living cells

Properties of Enzymes They are made of PROTEIN
They are not changed by the reactions they speed up They are SPECIFIC- means that only one particular enzyme will work with one particular chemical

What happens in the stomach?
Pepsin is an enzyme in the stomach HCL is hydrochloric acid is also in the stomach Do you think the pepsin alone will digest or break down the food? Do you think the acid alone will digest or break down the food? Do you think the pepsin and acid together will digest or break down the food?

What does dilute mean? If I add water to pepsin and acid, what happens? Will plain water digest or break down food?
