TECHNOLOGY 1.What is technology? 2.Technology is the product of scientific research meaning that people research science in order to create unique technological devices to make our lives easier and/or better. 3.Cell phones are a perfect example of this. 4.After years of research and testing we now have portable phones that can do many functions. We can now call people on the go, look up the nearest gas station and even take pictures.

TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS AND INVENTIONS OF THE LATE 1800S / EARLY 1900S. 1.There were inventions like the “ Bessemer Process ” that produced steel at a faster and cheaper rate. This helped the railroad infrastructure expand and grow. 2.The Wright brothers, in Kitty Hawk, NC, flew the first successful airplane. 3.The telegraph system connected the United States in order to send messages very fast. 4.One of the most notable inventions was the light bulb. How you ask? Let’s take a look…

THE LIGHT BULB 1.The light bulb revolutionized the world. 2.Imagine walking down streets with only candles lighting up the way. It would be a pain to light the candles and blow them out, right? 3.The light bulb changed all of this because now cities could be illuminated at night which meant people would stay out longer which meant businesses could stay open longer especially in the winter!
7
WHO INVENTED THE LIGHT BULB? 1. Thomas Edison … 2.did NOT invent the light bulb! 3.A man by the name of Humphrey Davy invented the first type of light bulb in 1806. However, it was too expensive and unrealistic for the everyday American to use.

SO WHO CARES ABOUT THOMAS EDISON THEN? 1.Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb but he improved it significantly! 2.In 1880 he invented what is called an incandescent light which was a small light bulb that could be lit for hours upon hours of use. 3.This light was the first light bulb to be used practically by every American meaning it was very affordable to buy.
