Not enough practice time before or during the season. Coaching at some levels seem to be lacking Travel Team Selection seems to be unfair and flawed. Teams not playing at the correct level given the talent. Fee’s getting too expensive

For those playing school ball – evaluated during the school ball baseball season during April. For those playing school ball – evaluated during the school ball baseball season during April. For those not playing school ball – evaluated in the TAC in mid March. For those not playing school ball – evaluated in the TAC in mid March. Evaluated On: Evaluated On: – Live Hitting, Tees\Soft Toss, Infield, Outfield, Pitching, Coachability – Evaluators are the MS and HS Baseball coaches DYBSA Challenge – integrating the results for the two different groups. Selection Process

This is not meant to take anything away from school ball. It’s a compromise between DYBSA and Delano Middle School Baseball. If abused it will be taken away. Gopher State games to begin the week of May 11th 13AAA and 14AAA Allows these teams to start earlier, not having to cram 16 games and 3 tournaments into a 5 week period. Provides for more practices during the season Health Benefits Family time Allows non Gopher State school ball players to get more games in How it will work All 14U teams posted May 4 th GS Players will not play school ball games after May 8th (TBD) School ball teams will be reconfigured for game purposes only. GS players will still practice with school ball.

Expectations and Rules… Gopher State players are expected to be at school ball practices Gopher State players are expected to participate in scrimmages as long as there are no conflicts with a game. Players are expected to play, act, participate, etc as though the summer ball season has yet to begin…give 100%+ Gopher State coaches cannot schedule practices during the week when school ball is in season. Weekends are fine. Failure to follow the above rules can\may result in loss of game time and\or modifying the team assignment of the player. This decision will be at the discretion of the school ball coaches and DYBSA.

Minimum of 4 hours required per family. Minimum of 4 hours required per family. Additionally, all families with Travel Team or Tier 1 players are required to volunteer a minimum of 6 hours. Additionally, all families with Travel Team or Tier 1 players are required to volunteer a minimum of 6 hours. – 4 of which must be worked during a Delano hosted tournament. Volunteer Examples include… Volunteer Examples include… – Spring clean up – Coaching/Assistant Coach (Including Skills Development Practices) – Concessions – Tournament help – Field Maintenance, Hosting, First Aid, Prep DYBSA Wants your Time and Talents not your Volunteer Check

Not enough practice time before or during the season. Limited number of fields in Delano for amount of teams playing Number of players dictate number of teams Have to juggle baseball, softball, teeball, coach pitch HS Sports have priority for fields Need to pay for field use – impacts player fee’s DYBSA will not intentionally interfere with fall or winter sports. Resolution… Use Other Towns Fields???? – Price and availability issues Schedule group practices Rent field on weekends – Fee increase and weekends DASA (Ice Rink) – have rented out for indoor practices starting April Pre-season Skill Clinics – February clinic a hug success

Coaching at some levels seem to be lacking Players numbers are very high – this is a good thing More players = more teams = more coaches needed Have more teams then coaches volunteering Take what we can get – not ideal, but necessary Resolution… DYBSA to conduct mandatory coaches training Will need to go through training in order to coach Non-parent coaches

Travel Team Selection seems to be unfair and flawed. No free passes from one year to the next Evaluation conducted by the HS baseball coaches - unbiased Non HS coaches brought in only in the event of resource issues Outside ball field evaluations ideal but has limitations… Weather issues Season start dates DYBSA Selection Process Resolution… Added a second night of tryouts – give evaluators a second look 13\14 Evaluations done during school ball Board has to approve teams – this provides checks & balances

Teams not playing at the correct level given the talent. Association asked for more travel teams “Caught in the middle” – DYBSA limited by league choices and rules Not a DYBSA decision to move teams up a level DYBSA is a small association but has had good success Gopher State\MBT – have rules that dictate level play based on prior years performance. May have to move up to AAA. Crow River League – not enough competition for first travel team and too much for second travel team. Resolution… For 10A and 12A Travel – move to Crow River B and GS A Gopher State to add a level between AA and AAA – we have no control over this. More Crow River Teams coming to Gopher State Start our own league???

DYBSA is a non-profit organization - budget based on expected costs for each season DYBSA is a non-profit organization - budget based on expected costs for each season – Total of player fees = total costs to run association General fees for all players General fees for all players – Field Usage, Insurance, Equipment, Uniforms, Administrative Additional fees for older players and travel team players Additional fees for older players and travel team players – Umpire fees, Tournament fees, League fees, Coach stipend Travel team fees are charged once teams are selected and due by May 1, 2015.
