2 Paul Klee Son of musicians; married to a musician –Born in Switzerland; lived and taught in Germany Decided to be an artist instead –Loved the use of color –Between 8000 and 9000 paintings in his life –Taught painting in Germany –Friends with Kandinsky (Man on a Horse) –Was eventually forced out of Germany by Nazis in WWII for creating “substandard” art, and his art was hidden for many years –Had a very unique style  Art does not have to be “accurate” to be “good”

Its presents the world from a subjective perspective, distorting it radically for emotional effect in order to evoke moods or ideas.
