4  Students are able to confidently participate in Havdalah. Success Criteria

5  Load the module Saying Goodbye to Shabbat onto the interactive whiteboard (IWB).  Work through the module with the students and ask them to put on the table what they need for Havdalah.  Then work through the section showing the blessings for Havdalah and choose students to help make a pretend Havdalah in the classroom.  Match up the symbols with the brachot.  Sing Eliyahu Hanavi with the class. Blended Learning

6  Print out Worksheet 9.1 and let students match the pictures and brachot together to create their own flashcards.  Let the students take the cards home as Havdalah resources. Let’s do

7  Bring in a selection of spices. Let the students make their own mixtures and place in a container to use as Besamim (spices). Let’s make

8  When Shabbat ends we start looking forward to the next Shabbat.  We do a Melave Malka – special meal to say farewell to the Shabbat Queen.  Discuss with students that we start looking forward to the next Shabbat as Shabbat comes out. Let’s talk

9  Hold up items from Havdalah and ask the students to explain each item.  Sing Eliyahu Hanavi as a class. Let’s sum it up
