Nouns! Ntbk p. 155 A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing or idea. Examples: People: woman, lawyer, Mr. Szymendera, zookeeper Places: St. Louis, school, forest, theater, Mt. Hood Things: shoe, magazine, cat, pizza, soccer ball Ideas and Feelings: happiness, talent, law, hope, fear, truth

Possessive Nouns ntbk p. 152 Possessive Nouns- shows possession of the noun that follows 1. singular nouns: add (') and -s ex boy's hat Ms. Reiss's shoes 2. plural nouns ending in -s: add only (') ex. Cowells' house girls' bikes 3. plural nouns not ending in -s: add (') and -s ex. mice's cheese children's Harleys

Abstract vs. Concrete Ntbk p. 151 abstract noun: a feeling, idea, or quality that can be understood, but not seen or touched. Examples: joy curiosity judgment honesty concrete noun: a person, place, or thing that can be seen or touched. Examples: coachfieldball
