Pronouns!! Little words that mean A LOT!

Pronouns in Sentences You have to have identified the person FIRST, before you can use the pronoun, as there is no sign difference between HE/SHE/IT/THEY or HIS/HER/ITS/THEIR Also, we tend to use the pronoun in ASL, even when not stated in English. Ex: My mom likes coffee. ASL: MY MOM SHE-(pt) COFFEE LIKES The reason we do this is because if they have not yet been set up, they are now!!

Personal Pronouns **Signed with an INDEX finger** ME YOU / YOU(plural)/YOU (honorific) THEM THEY HE/SHE HIM/HER US WE IT

Possessive Pronouns **Signed with a FLAT HAND** OUR YOUR/YOUR (plural) MY HIS/HER/ITS THEIR/ THEIRS (plural)

Demonstrative Pronouns THIS THAT-ONE THOSE THESE

Reflexive Pronouns **Signed with an “A” handshape** HIMSELF HERSELF MYSELF YOURSELF YOURSELVES

Number Referents **Signed with a number handshape, circles** TWO OF US YOU TWO THREE OF US YOU THREE ETC.

Only One **With “1” hand shape, signed like $1 but is spatial** ONLY ME JUST YOU JUST HER/HIM
