KINDERGARTEN HOW CAN I HELP MY STUDENT GET READY FOR KINDERGARTEN?

Help your child recognize letter names and the sounds each letter makes. It’s okay to sing the ABC song, but make sure they can recognize the letters out of order too. READING

Point out letters in familiar places. (What letter does Walmart begin with? Do you know the sound the /w/ makes?) READING

Read to your child at least 10 minutes each night. (Show them how to follow along with their finger as you read). READING

Begin learning numbers 1-20 and recognizing colors and basic shapes. Name a number, and count that many pieces of cereal another object MATH

Encourage your child to draw a picture and then tell you about it. (If they are able, have them write some letters/words to “label” their picture.) LANGUAGE ARTS

Practice writing the uppercase and lowercase forms of each letter. Help them learn to write their first and last names. LANGUAGE ARTS
