Nouns A noun is any person, place, thing, or idea. – Person: Ed, Mom, Mrs. Johnson – Place: Bowling alley, Park, Shoe store – Thing: Cat, Pencil, Toy – Idea: Love, Hope, Friendship, Tuesday

Concrete & Abstract Nouns Concrete Noun: Can be experienced by the five senses – Pillow, dog, candy Abstract Noun: Can not be experienced by the five senses, usually idea nouns – Trust, hope, sadness

Singular & Plural Nouns Singular Noun: One person, place, thing or idea – Guitar, flower, cloud Abstract Noun: Multiple people, places, things or ideas – Pillows, dogs, deer

Common & Proper Nouns Common Noun: Names general items – Gas station, Television, Monkey Proper noun: Names a specific item. – Ellie, Mrs. Johnson, McDonald’s
