8. Predicates  Sentences have two major parts.  Subject-tells who/what sentence is about  Predicates-Tells about sentence  Some residents of the desert can survive a long drought.

9. Identify the Predicate and Subject  The Australian frog is particularly noteworthy.  How can an animal survive that long?  Platinum commands a high price today because of its resistance to corrosion.

10. Simple vs Complete Predicate  Simple Predicate is the VERB.  Ex: snare  Complete Predicate consists of the verb and all the words that modify the verb and complete its meaning.  Ex: snare their prey in intricate webs.  Spiders snare their prey in intricate webs.
