5 Week 2 - Email5 What is Email? E-mail (electronic mail) is a method of sending messages and attaching files over the Internet. E-mail is the Internet’s version of the postal service and a great way to communicate with people. The best of e-mail is that you can also send a message with attachments. This means you can send text documents, pictures etc.

6 Week 2 - Email6 What is an Email address? An e-mail address identifies a location to which e-mail messages can be delivered Email addresses are in the form of: user@domain moboyle662@c2kni.net

8 Week 2 - Email8 Email Application The application used for Email is Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Outlook is denoted by the following icon:

10 Week 2 - Email10Inbox What you see now is your inbox Inbox is the folder that all your incoming email goes to. When you receive a new email you can find it in there. Your email stays in this box until you either delete it, or move it to another folder.

18 Week 2 - Email18 Replying to an email When someone sends you an email you can reply to their message. When replying to an email you do not have to enter the recipients email address. Demonstration

20 Week 2 - Email20 Forwarding an email To forward an email means to send a copy of an email to someone else. This is very useful as you do not have to retype the content of the message. Demonstration

22 Week 2 - Email22 Sending an attachment An email attachment is a computer file which is sent along with an e-mail message e.g. A document, pictures This is very useful way of sending information that is already prepared. Demonstration

24 Week 2 - Email24 Downloading an attachment When an email is received with an attachment it is denoted by a paperclip symbol An attachment can either be saved or opened. It is always advisable to save your attachments to your user area. Demonstration

25 Week 2 - Email25 Exercise Open the email and attachment your colleague has sent to you. Save the attachment to your user area.

26 Week 2 - Email26 Deleting an email To delete an email means to remove it from your inbox. You need to delete emails from your inbox to ensure it does not get full. If your inbox is full you will not receive any incoming mail. Demonstration

27 Week 2 - Email27 Exercise Delete any unwanted emails from your inbox

28 Week 2 - Email28 Final Exercise Send an email to someone in your class the with an attachment. The attachment should be the flower picture from your user area in the my pictures folder.
