The Louisiana Purchase was one of the largest real estate deals in history.The United States purchased the Louisiana Territory at the price of $15 million or approximately four cents an acre. The Louisiana purchase doubled the size of united states and opened up north for westward expansion. LOUISIANA PURCHASE

Meriwether Lewis was born on August 18, 1774.He served in the army. He was Thomas Jefferson’s secretary and that is how he was chosen for the expedition. Sadly, he killed himself in 1809. LEWIS

William Clark was born in Caroline County, Virginia on August,1 1770 and died on september,1 1838.clark served under Lewis in the Corps of Discovery. CLARK

ROUTE OF EXPLORATION Lewis and Clark’s trip started in Washington D.C. and zigzags across Delaware, Maryland,Virginia, Pennsylvania then goes through a bunch of states like West Verginia,Kentucky, and Indiana. Their trip covered 4,600 miles in all.

sacagawea Sacagawea was born in 1788 and died Dec. 20 th 1812. She was born in what is now Salmon, Idaho.Sacagawega got married at age 13 to Toussaint Charbonneau. She was also part of the Shosone Tribe. When Lewis and Clark brought her aboard the expodition,she was preagnant.She named her baby Jean Baptiste. She was a big part and help to the expodition.

NEW DISCOVORY’S Animals: Desert cottontail,dusky horned owl,Eastern spiny softshell turtle. Plants: Mccown’s Longspur,common snowberry,Lewis’s mock orange.

Lewis gets shot!!!!! Lewis and Pierre Cruzzatte went hunting for buffalo and Pierre mistaked him for a buffalo and shot him in the butt!!!!!!!

SEAMAN GET’S BIT!! During the expodition,Lewis’s dog Seaman gets bit when trying fetch a beaver for Lewis. He gets bit in hind leg and was off it for a cuple days.

FORT CLATSOP Fort Clatsop is really cool because it is the only fort that is not underwater right now. Lewis and Clark started building Fort Clatsop on Dec. 7 1805.

CONCLUSION The expodition of Lewis and Clark took two years four months and ten days. In total they discovered 122 plants and 178 animals. Over all the journey was a success!!!
