Brief History… The summer of 1965, a University of Florida assistant coach was curious why so many of his players were being affected by heat and heat related illnesses. University Physicians discovered the fluids and electrolytes the players lost through sweat were not being replaced, and the large amounts of carbohydrates the players’ bodies used for energy were not being replenished.

What’s In Gatorade? H 2 0 Water C 6 H 12 O 6 Glucose C 12 H 22 O 11 Sucrose C 6 H 12 O 6 Fructose NaCl Sodium Chloride C 6 H 5 Na 3 O 7 Sodium Citrate C 3 H 4 OH(CO 2 H) 3 Citric Acid H 2 KO 4 P Monopotassium Phosphate

How Does Gatorade Work? The 6 % of Carbohydrate Solution in Gatorade helps working muscles fight fatigue and gain energy. By absorbing into the body faster than water, Gatorade helps the body maintain hydration which ensures peak performance.

How Gatorade Works Continued… Using Gatorade, athletes can replenish electrolytes that they loose while they sweat. Electrolytes like Sodium, Potassium and Chloride, are important to the body when maintaining hydration.

Gatorade Vs Water According to Gatorade.COM athletes who hydrate with Gatorade perform better than athletes who hydrate with water in a number of different areas: –Exercise longer without fatigue –Maintain faster sprint speed in 2 nd half of competition –Exhibit higher explosive power

Conclusion Gatorade is scientifically formulated to rehydrate replenish and refuel athletes in ways water or other kinds of drinks can’t.
