Wind PowerWind Power By Ethan McKeegan, Lucian McCauley, Ryan McKeever And John McCarron

Wind PowerWind Power  Wind power is whenever wind is changed into energy,  Originally wind power was used to grind corn, wheat etc to make flour etc,  Nowadays, wind turbines are used as a clean alternative to fossil fuels,

How It WorksHow It Works  Wind power works when wind turns the propellers on the wind turbine,  This then turns the generator, which generates electricity,  Electricity creates no waste, and is very good for environment

Advantages of Wind PowerAdvantages of Wind Power Some of the advantages on wind power are…  Wind is free, wind farms need no fuel.  Produces no waste or greenhouse gases.  The land beneath can usually still be used for farming.

Disadvantages of Wind PowerDisadvantages of Wind Power Some of the disadvantages of wind power are…  The wind is not always predictable - some days have no wind.  Suitable areas for wind farms are often near the coast, where land is expensive.  Some people feel that covering the landscape with these towers is unsightly.

Explanation of choiceExplanation of choice  I think wind power is the best choice for Northern Ireland because it is always windy so we would have probably too much energy and there are lots of high hills in Ireland so there wouldn’t be an shortage of places to put the wind turbines. One bad thing about using a wind turbine in Ireland is that sometimes it might be too windy so you would actually have to turn it off or it will get too noisy.

Conclusion  Having looked at all the alternative energy resources we have chosen that wind power is the most convenient resource for Northern Ireland. We think this because Ireland is one of the windiest places on earth and has some of the highest hills tom put the turbines on.
