SWIM Expectations ◦ Student created class rules the first week of school and are held accountable for them all day Conduct/Effort ◦ We hold students to high expectations daily in conduct (behavior) and work effort in ALL classes Students are working toward an end of quarter celebration for good conduct, effort, and HW completion PLEASE SIGN UP FOR DOJO with your child’s teacher Homework ◦ Reading for 30 minutes each night to practice reading comprehension and reading fluency passage to practice comprehension (Monday-Thursday) ◦ Math problem(s) ◦ Assignments are purposeful and should be completed with a high level of effort

First bell is at 8:45 - students begin to arrive Final bell is at 9:15 – school day starts Dismissal is at 3:45 Last buses go to bussing area around 4:15 Please try not to check students out early unless there is an appointment. We are still learning and working up to the last minute. If your child is leaving school a different way than normal, please send a note.

We switch guided reading groups every quarter and align lessons with our literacy focus lessons. We meet in two separate 20- 30 minute groups to maximize on discussing reading in a small group setting. We encourage students to bring home their math journals to assist with homework and to prepare for assessments. Expressions Curriculum is a resource ◦ Emphasizes skills and problem solving ◦ However…lots of new ways to solve problems ◦ Manipulatives ◦ Pre and post assessments ◦ SHOW ALL WORK FOR FULL CREDIT! Fourth Grade Expectations ◦ LOTS of multiplication and division! (Practice, practice, practice at home!) ◦ Fractions, decimals, probability ◦ Word Problem solving skills 8 Math Strategies will be our primary focus when discussing problem solving WE WILL HAVE A MATH NIGHT FOR PARENTS TO FOCUS ON CURRICULUM (STAY TUNED FOR A DATE)
