As an IT professional your work is governed by a range of legislation and industry standards including: Australian Commonwealth legislation Australian state and territory legislation Legislation and standards that apply to the IT industry Legislation and standards that apply to the client’s core business International IT and business standards. 2

Commonwealth Government legislations refers to laws enacted by the government. Legislative documents set out these laws including: ◦ Acts of Parliament ◦ Regulations These are supported by: ◦ Government Policies ◦ Government Guidelines 3
