Arrival Information A temporary identification badge will be issued to each intern for the duration of tenure. When you arrive at the Center in the morning, visit the security shack just before you enter the security gate, to the right, in order to get your visitor’s badge issued. Orientation will begin at 8:30 in the mornings of June 1 st, June 8 th, June 15 th and June 22 nd so please plan to arrive in time to get your badge and still make it to orientation on time. Security shack is open at 6:00 in the morning.

Arrival Information There are two airports near Ames; San Francisco and San Jose International Airports. You can inquire about ground transportation from the airport, the Super Shuttle service is the most cost effective way to get to NASA from either airport.

Expectations While On Center Interns are expected at all times to conduct themselves in a positive, responsible, honest, ethical and professional manner, and to promote the best interests of Higher Education/High School Internship Project and/or NASA ARC Complying with all and/or NASA ARC safety and security regulations. An important thing to remember is that you are on a federally operated center, so any violations of rules will be persecuted as federal offense.

Safety Training SATERN Training—IT training SATERN Training—IT training Information Technology (IT) security training is mandatory for all federal employees, contractors, students and associates who use NASA Federal IT assets and information. You will receive an email notification when you are clear to take the SATERN IT Training. Please follow the directions given to complete the training. Ideally to be completed before the start of your internship. Information on Wiki site.

Safety Bootcamp--to be done while on Center. Safety Bootcamp--to be done while on Center. All students are required to sign up for the Safety Bootcamp class at: https://safetytraining.arc.nasa.gov/training/registration/EHS This is mandatory prior to working in any lab.https://safetytraining.arc.nasa.gov/training/registration/EHS Check our wiki site to see which training you need; there are different training for those working in an office environment or a lab.

Forms Emergency Locator Form Please fill out and turn in at orientation. Biweekly Time Sheets Students are required to complete 400 hours of internship time. Fill out every two weeks and return to Office of Education. No leave or vacation time. Pre-Internship Plan Form Discuss with your mentor at the beginning of your internship week. Form must be filled and turned in at the end of your first week of training. Speaker Evaluation Form To be filled out after orientation and turned in then.

Food On Campus There are three different places where you can have a meal: Mega Bites Self Serve Breakfast……….6:00-6:30 a.m. Hot Breakfast…………………6:30-9:30 a.m. Lunch……………………………11:00-1:30 p.m. Grab & Go……………………….1:30-2:00 pm. Barcelona Café Hot Breakfast………………..7:00-9:30 a.m. Lunch………………………....11:00-1:30 p.m. Grab & Go……………………..1:30-2:00 p.m. The T-1 Golf Restaurant (open till 8 p.m.)

Fitness Center The Fitness Center is available to all with an Ames badge and a SIGNED RELEASE. (The fitness center requires that you turn in the completed form before you can use equipment at the facility;
