3 For most nouns, add s to form the plural. Singular cookie piece house laser tablet Clark Plural cookies pieces houses lasers tablets Clarks

4 For nouns ending in ch, s, sh, x, and sometimes z add –es to form the plural. Singular sandwich glass bush box waltz Thomas Plural sandwiches glasses bushes boxes waltzes Thomases

5 Add –s to form the plural of nouns that end in y when a vowel comes before the y. Singular chimney journey attorney survey Plural chimneys journeys attorneys surveys

6 Drop the y and add ies to form the plural of common nouns that end in y when a consonant comes before the y. Singular daisy activity company quality Plural daisies activities companies qualities

7 Add only –s to proper names that end in y to maintain the correct spelling of the proper name. Singular Bailey Bundy Plural Baileys Bundys

8 Form the plural of nouns ending in a vowel plus o by adding –s. Singular rodeo patio stereo Plural rodeos patios stereos

9 Form the plural of nouns ending in a consonant plus o by adding – es.
