OPENING STATEMENT In this class I learned a lot, not only about leadership but about myself. I learned that I was a servant leader and also some of my strengths. In the following slides I will show you all some of my outcomes that represent this and explain self leadership, interpersonal and organizational, leadership theories, inclusive leadership and critical thinking.
5
SECTION 1 SELF LEADERSHIP Student will demonstrate personal, organizational, and academic examples of self- discipline. 2Student will demonstrate personal, organizational, and academic examples of self- discipline HDF 190 LASA/CVSA/ GSA I want to be on executive board next year so I show that I am organized and self-disciplined at meetings. LASA is an organization called Latin American Student Association. I show that I am organized by attending every meeting, keeping notes of every meeting, volunteering and speaking up at meetings.
6
SECTION 2 Leadership Theory and Models Student will show knowledge of the “Social Change Model of Leadership Development” by Astin et al 45 Student will describe personal application of the above theory HDF 190LASA/CVSA/GSAA personal experience I had with this model is in all of my organizations. I am in the Latino Student association, the Cape Verdean Student Association and the Gay Straight Alliance. GSA just had an event where we took part in the “Day of Silence.” The purpose is to represent the silencing, because our identities are hidden so you cannot meet someone and know their gender identity or sexual orientation. Those who took part did not speak for the entire day until the “Break The Silence Party” that GSA through at night. I believe this is applying the above model because we used the 8 C’s for a purpose and that was to raise awareness for the effects of LGBT bullying and harassment.
7
SECTION 3 Student will show knowledge of principles of critical thinking (logic is used in this minor) 69Student will show knowledge of principles of critical thinking (logic is used in this minor) HDF 190URI 101 In my URI 101 class I learned all about all of the principles of critical thinking. I learned to gather complete information, understand and define all terms, question the methods by which the facts are derived, question the conclusions, look for hidden assumptions and biases, question the source of facts, examine the big picture, examine multiple cause and effect, and understand your own biases and values.
8
SECTION 4 Critical Thinking Student will demonstrate proficiency of critical thinking 70Student will demonstrate proficiency of critical thinking HDFLife /Decision Making I got accepted to all the colleges that I wanted to go to but I had to think about what college was best for me and my interests, so I sat down with my guidance counselor and made a Pro and Con list to decide which school was right for me. Through completing this list I learned a lot about myself and a lot about the schools I wanted to go to.

SECTION 5 Interpersonal and Organizational Concepts and Skills Student will demonstrate knowledge of active listening techniques 79Student will demonstrate knowledge of active listening techniques HDF 190HDF 190/URI101 When Katy came to our class she described to us what Servant Leadership actually was and what it meant to her. She also gave us a sheet of paper to record any thoughts or an example for each 10 of the characteristics of the Servant leadership model while she was speaking on it. One of the 10 components was listening and she described the difference between just listening and active listening. She explained that active listening is actually listening to the person and giving them feedback.
