Food The main food they eat is different kinds of rice dishes. The bird kids help the African people farm and get food. The little kids also help the adults and as a reward the bird kids give them candy, like suckers and mints. Young kids and elderly people eat mushed rice with water and salt, heated to make a soup.

Terrain It’s very sandy and hot. They have lots of big, rugged mountains surrounding them. It’s very, very hard to farm because the soil is bad, they don’t get much rain, and it’s very hot. There aren't very many trees and bushes so it’s hard to find shade.
4
Housing Most of the people who live in Africa live in tents made out of animal skin and other materials like cloth. Some of the people who can find mud and stone make houses out of that. Some of the people can also afford wood and other supplies to make houses with.
5
Clothing Most people wear light, thin, raggedy clothes during the day to stay cool, and thick, heavy clothes at night. Most of the clothes they wear are made of cloth or animal skins. Women normally made the clothes while the men went to look for food.
6
Climate During the the day the temperature is very, very hot. At night the temperature drops down and becomes cool. When it’s hottest you don’t want to be outside because it’s so hot, you want to try and find shade or go in a tent.
7
People Most of the people that live in the village that the bird kids visit speak English so it’s easy for them to communicate, although some speak other languages. Most of the people in the village are African, but a few of them are white. They trade animal furs and food with other villages that are close to them.
