Let’s Start With An Activity… Work with a partner to discuss one type of physical activity you currently do or have done in the past.

Why Is Physical Activity Important ? Reduces the risk of some diseases Increases energy Helps with weight Improves sleep Sense of well-being

Why Do We Include Physical Activity ? It is part of a healthy lifestyle USDA includes physical activity in Dietary Guidelines

How Much Is Necessary ? Children ( 6-17 years of age ): At least 60 minutes a day of moderate to vigorous intensity activity Bone and muscle strengthening activities

How Much Is Necessary ? Adults ( 18-64 years of age ): Avoid Inactivity At least 30 minutes, 5 or more days a week Strengthening Activities 2 or more times a week
