Lewis and Clark Lewis and Clark were adventurers that were sent to explore the Louisiana Purchase. They were sent by President Thomas Jefferson in May 1804. As they traveled on their journey Lewis and Clark met in St. Louis. Before they left, Lewis purchased a Newfoundland dog named Seamen. Lewis and Clark met a Indian lady named Sacagawea. There expedition reaches the Pacific Ocean in November 12 1805. The rest of the expedition was spent in Fort Clatsop in December 1805 to March 1806.
