DEFINITION To calculate approximately (the amount, extent, magnitude, position, or value of something).

RULES FOR ROUNDING The number ending in a digit of 4 or less the number is round down (the number stay and rest and ending with 0. Example: 84 is rounded to 80 The number that end in a digit of 5 or more the number is round up ( the number increase by 1 and ending with 0. Example: 165 is rounded to 200

GUIDED PRACTICES Rounding to the nearest tens the number in the ones place let you know if you round up or down. Example: 43 → 40 Rounding to the nearest hundreds the number in the tens place let you know if you round up or down Example: 650 → 700 Rounding to the nearest thousands place the number in the hundreds let you know if you round up or down Example: 2399 → 2000
