2 2 Student Learning Outcome 1.Be able to locate Delta College Library’s website and be aware of the library’s variety of resources and services 2.Be able to find books in print and electronic formats, audiovisual materials, textbooks, and reserved readings from the library catalog (GoCat) 3.Be able to conduct a keyword/phrase search or SmartText search in GoElectronic to find full-text e-books and articles from journals, magazines, and newspapers on a chosen topic 4.Be able to limit your search results and evaluate retrieved sources that are pertinent to your topic 5.Know how to download, save, e-mail, and print retrieved sources 6.Be able to cite the sources in MLA style Library

9 Search for Reserved Items or Textbooks 9 1.Select Reserve Desk from the dropdown menu 2.Choose Instructor Name (or Course Name and Course ID number) from the search field 3.Enter your professor’s last name in the search box 4.Click Enter or Return on your computer keyboard or on the Search button. 5. Click on your professor’s name link to display reserved item(s) for his classes.

10 10 Search for Reserved Items or Textbooks Click on the course link to display the detailed record Click on the title link to display the detailed information Identify the location, call number, and circulation status of the reserved item. To check it out at the Circulation/Reserve Desk, present the call number and your library card.

14 14 Display the Full-Text Article or eBook To make it readable, click on the drop-down arrow on the top of the screen and select Page Width. Scroll down to read the next page. To print the article, click on the printer icon on the upper right-hand side of the screen. To print a chapter from an e-book, click on the printer icon and enter the page number range.

15 15 Find the Citation in the Database Click on the Cite icon and scroll down to find your preferred citation format.

16 16 Tweak the MLA Citation Copy and paste the citation in your Works Cited page of your paper and tweak it using the MLA Citation Guide at http://www.deltacollege.edu/dept/library/IC/mla.html.
