2.  Incredibly Productive ◦ Can double in volume overnight (if the conditions are right)  Up to 50% of weight is oil in each cell  Can be grown in water and on land other things cannot

3.  Photobioreactors, Open Ponds, Closed Ponds used to grow algae  Use C02 and sunlight to grow (Photosynthesis)  Filtered out using screening, centrifuges, ect.  Oil is extracted from the biomass and refined into other products such as gasoline, biodiesel, ethanol, and jet fuel

6.  Renewable fuel source  High yields  Less expensive than regular oil (if done on a large scale)  Reduces amount of CO2 or stops it from rising ◦ Algae may be grown by CO2 from industrial sites  Cleaner burning than traditional fuels  Can use and clean waste water
