2 Why we’re going! To build self esteem To experience outdoor and adventurous activities To face fears and overcome them To develop teamwork skills

4 Choosing Activities A mixture of water-based activities and land- based. (Plus some extras!) We let the children vote for the activities they would like to do: They chose: sailing, raft building, mountain biking, high-ropes. We also had a go at bush craft, orienteering and The Grafham Challenge!

10 SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Room sizes vary from 2 to 6. They will be responsible for the upkeep of their rooms. Room inspections will take place every morning and at other random times! No food or drink is allowed in children’s rooms.

11 Meal times Cafeteria style dining room. Always more than one choice of main meal available. Vegetarian option available. Drink and healthy snack half way through morning and afternoon activities

12 MEDICAL ISSUES MEDICATION If your child is on medication, it needs to be placed in a bag, clearly labelled with name and instructions, and handed to their class teacher. INHALERS Please make sure that your child knows how to use their inhaler effectively if they are asthmatic.

13 Clothing A kit list will be provided. Children need to bring old clothes as they will get wet or dirty during the activities. Shoes for land activities, old shoes for wet activities and indoor shoes are needed. All clothes need labelling. Hats and sun cream are essential if hot! Plastic bin bag for the return of wet clothes. The school policy on jewellery should be followed.

14 General Information CAMERAS Children may bring a camera if they wish, but it is their responsibility. Disposable/digital cameras allowed. Teachers bring cameras to take photos while children taking part in activities. Cameras are not allowed in the dorms. SPENDING MONEY Children may bring a small amount of money (£3 maximum) to spend on Grafham souvenirs such as keyrings, pencils, bookmarks etc. MOBILE PHONES No mobile phones or electrical equipment to be brought with them.

I didn't think I would like sailing but it was best activity I loved all the activities We had the best leaders ever It was great – I overcame my fear of heights I felt safe doing all the activities but I still had to be brave We made new friendships People encouraged me when I did archery Team work is something that we needed when canoeing We overcame our fears by being brave and encouraging others.
