1929: Martin Luther King, Jr. was born in Atlanta to teacher Alberta King and to Baptist minister Michael Luther King. 1948: Martin Luther King, Jr. received a BA in sociology from Morehouse College at age 19. 1951: Received a PH.D degree from Boston University program in theological seminary. 1953: Married New England conservatory music student Corretta Scott; they had four children together. 1954: became a minister for Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama.

1963: the great I have a dream speech and the march 200,000 people in Washington, DC. 1964: won Nobel Peace Prize at age 35. Writes stride toward freedom about boycott. Brought peace among people.

Martin Luther King, Jr. had many goals but one of the goals was to stop racism. Another goal of Dr. King was to foster better attitudes and relationships among all people.

1969: James Earl Ray found guilty for Martin’s assassination. Martin was shot in the neck on a balcony at Loren's Hotel. Soon after he died in the hospital. Dr. King was only 39 at the time of his death.

He helped try to put a stop to racism. King showed that all people can be friends and be nice to each other; that it doesn’t matter what color skin people have. People should be judged by their inner character rather than their outer appearance.
