2 Reporting of Results  Do not make up data or modify results  Errors of omission are prohibited  Publically correct errors if/when they occur.

3 Plagarism  Give credit where credit is due  Put quotes around direct quotations  Every paraphrase should give credit  Examples: Model a study after another Rationale for current study from another  (including personal communications)

4 Publication Credit  “Authorship is reserved for persons who receive primary credit and hold primary responsibility for a published work.”  Should order authorship by significance of contribution.  Authors assume all responsibility for their work.

5 Duplicate Publication  “An author must not submit to an APA journal a manuscript describing work that has been published in whole or in substantial part elsewhere.”  “The same manuscript must not be submitted to more than one publisher at the same time.”  No “piece-meal” publication.

6 Data Verification  Keep raw data for a minimum of 5 years after publication.  Keep other materials, apparatus, etc. for same period.

7 Professional Reviewers  May not circulate or quote from or cite a work that is currently under review without first obtaining permission.

8 Research Participants  You are required to report on your participants and must abide by all ethical guidelines that apply to the use of human and/or animal subjects.
