Established in 1885, PIANC is the longest-standing organisation in its field, and continues to be the leading partner for governments and private sector in the design, development and maintenance of ports, waterways and coastal areas. “Setting the course” Bogota - Colombia / Nov. 27th, 2012 Our Commissions and Working Groups reflect the unique variety of topics and issues covered by PIANC Our Commissions and Working Groups reflect the unique variety of topics and issues covered by PIANC 4 commissions for technical and scientific activities, focusing on: inland navigation (InCom), maritime navigation (MarCom), recreational navigation (RecCom) and environmental matters (EnviCom). 1 commission for international co-operation and relations with Countries in Transition (CoCom). Commissions execute PIANC’s Strategic Plan, co-ordinate the work of our technical Working Groups and Permanent Task Groups, and provide reference information for conferences and publications. Participation open to delegates from each member country. How we work

“Setting the course” Bogota - Colombia / Nov. 27th, 2012 PIANC InCom Inland Navigation Commission InCom as specified in Art. 52, PIANC Rules & Regulations “InCom is in charge of the activities of PIANC in the field of inland waterways in co- operation with MarCom, ReCom and EnviCom. “Setting the course” Bogota - Colombia / Nov. 27th, 2012 PIANC InCom Activities InCom Working Groups Each Technical Commission is entitled to propose the setting up of Working Groups to undertake studies of specific subjects related to the implementation of the strategy of the Association. The setting up and the Terms of Reference of Working Groups shall be recommended by the relevant Commission for approval by the ExCom. InCom: To set up and promote Working groups in the Field on Inland Navigation topics

Information Services and Technology and for Inland Waterway Transport 2. International and Trans-boundary Collaboration in IWT and River Management 3. Our objective: create an international network of Young Professionals, to share knowledge and facilitate contacts with the world’s leading specialists across all working fields. PIANC De Paepe-Willems Award : special prize established as a recognition of outstanding technical research on waterborne transport infrastructure by young engineers.
