General guidelines Expect to present for at least 7 minutes if you’re an individual; at least 10 minutes for groups. When presenting, be as specific as possible. Use pictures from your work to enhance your presentation. Be prepared to take questions afterwards.
5
PowerPoints/Prezi Information Why did you choose your topic/issue ? What did you do for your CIA project ? What were your goals ? How did you go about accomplishing your goals ? Did you meet your goals ? Social impact of your project ? Personal impact of the project ? Reflect on your project.
6
Why did you choose your topic/issue? What was your topic/issue ? How related to an important community need ? Statistics/facts would help here Why was this topic/issue appealing to you ?
7
What did you do for your CIA project? Where did your project take place? Be specific! If you volunteered at an animal shelter, for example, tell us the name of the shelter, the town it’s in, etc. If researched based – where did your information on the topic come from? Why did you choose to volunteer where you did? (Note: this is not the same as why did you chose your topic) If research-based – why did you feel a research-based project was more appropriate? What did you actually do? Again, the more specific, the better. Who were your contacts within the community? How was this work related to your topic?
8
What were your goals? How many hours did you aim to volunteer? How many people did you hope your work would reach? How much money did you intend to raise? With whom did you hope to raise awareness ? Who did you hope to work with (in the community) for this project?
9
How did you go about attaining your goals? What specific steps did you take to accomplish your goals? Who helped you along the way? What difficulties did you encounter? Was time a factor? Did any individuals, groups, laws, hinder your progress?
10
Did you meet your goals? Not meeting your goals is NOT an indication of a bad project! Reflect on why you were successful in meeting your goal. What made it successful ? What would you have changed about your project to make it more successful.
11
What was the impact (socially and personally) of your project? How did your work help your community? Impact of your work? Unintended benefits? How did your work impact you ? Learn something new? Inspired to do more in this area? Frustrated by something related to this project?
12
Reflection: How could you do more? Who else could you reach out to? What other types of work could you do? i.e., if you volunteered, would raising money be appropriate? Would political action – letters to congress, rallies, etc. – be appropriate?) How could you inspire others to support your cause?
13
