Introduction to Noodletools Creating a research project using Noodletools

Learning Target Practice opening a project in Noodletools by setting up a Noodletool account to create a project, citation, and works cited page.

First… Some of you are familiar with the website, others are not. It is important we go through this together as sometimes things have changed within the program, sometimes your teacher has different expectations. Please do not rush ahead and complete things as you will find yourself trying to backtrack and redo information.

Noodletools.com This is an online research tool that helps teach the research process and assists with organizing and tracking progress on research projects. Note: It is online, so you will need to be connected to wi-fi when using it.

What can you use it for? Note-taking Outlining (Yay!) Creating citations Document archiving/annotation Collaborative research Sharing your writing

Register (If you already have an account, log in.) Create a personal ID Choose an account linked to a school/library Register Personal ID: Your mypanthers username Password: Your mypanthers password It will ask you for four last digits of your telephone number, I do recommend you do this as many students forget how to log in and there is NO WAY for me or anyone else at this school to get your account back up if you forget your information. The first time you do this, you must do it from school in order to have it connect to the school. Select Westwood Middle School from the list when prompted.

My Projects In this section, you will see projects that you are working on that you create.

Projects shared with me These are projects you may be collaborating with other students. You will not see anything in there unless you have a joint project.

Before you start… You need to find out as much information as possible. Punctuation, spelling, and capitalization MATTER! This is a tool, but it will NOT fix what you enter.

Start with contributors Select author. Enter the author’s name. This novella includes a translator. Select add a contributor and add the translator. Continue to fill in the information for our book. Notice as you add the title of the book that it gives you tips on capitalization, etc. Pay attention to these tips!
