New York originally called New Amsterdam is the largest city on the American continent. It has about 10 million inhabitants of all races. Its main part is situated on the island called Manhattan. It was bought from Indians for 200 dollars in the 17th century. New York nicknamed Big Apple is the city of skyscrapers. The highest one is the Empire State Building with over 400 metres.
