3. CIS: What Is It? Major emphasis on programming, systems analysis, and implementation Do you like to work with computers and technology? Do you also like to work with people? Do you like challenging problems? If so, then CIS may be for you!

4. CIS: Departmental Home In the fall of 1995, the information systems faculty and the CIS concentration were merged with the Accounting Department to form the Accounting and Information Systems Department.

5. CIS: Growth The Kelley School of Business now has ten tenure-track faculty members in information systems, and will be adding three additional tenure-track faculty members this coming fall. Business 200 was remodeled in the summer of 1998 as a state-of-the-art classroom/laboratory for CIS courses.

6. CIS: Growth Current plans are to require all CIS students to have their own laptop computer when entering the database course, S307, in the fall of 2002 or later. Requirement will apply to systems analysis, S310, in the spring of 2003, and S305 and all higher-level CIS courses starting in the fall of 2003. Purchasing and servicing options are still being developed; a general announcement will be made early in the spring of 2002.

14. CIS and Other Concentrations A double concentration with CIS and most other concentrations in the School of Business is quite valuable. Because of overlap in requirements, Accounting or Business Process Management work extremely well as a double concentration with CIS.

15. CIS and Informatics CIS is cooperating under the umbrella of the new School of Informatics, but will continue to be a Kelley School of Business degree program. CIS is the “Business Informatics” program at Indiana University!!
