4 Absorption  Drug absorption depends on:  Physical form  Particle size  GI pH  Solubility in fats  Nutrient absorption depends on:  Intact enzyme system  GI secretions

5 Drug Interactions on Nutrients  May cause altered food intake due to  Decrease or increase in appetite, nausea, vomiting, altered taste, dry mouth, altered intestinal motility  Can alter nutrient absorption in intestines.  Can slow down nutrient synthesis.  Can affect the loss or storage of a nutrient.
