Activity Pretend you are traveling a long distance to live in a new country. You can only bring one small bag with you, think about important items you have. Bring in three things to share with the class and write a paragraph explaining why you chose each item.

Activity Pretend you are traveling on the ship with Annushka and Tanya. Write in your journal about your first day on the ship. Are you scared, excited, who do you meet on the ship, where do you sleep…

Activity Pretend you are a young immigrant, such as Annushka. You have now been in America for one year. List and discuss five ways your life has changed since moving to America.
