Communication Expectations, limits, parameters, and financial realities – are we all on the same page? Your child’s thoughts, fears, hopes, and goals Set specific goals and a time frame for accomplishing them

Now What? How to Help? Testing Plan ACT/SAT/SAT II Register for tests online. Official scores sent to schools by the student. You request from testing organizations! Don’t forget the NCAA if you plan to play athletics in college.

What is this Naviance stuff? Permission to transmit records (transcripts) Permission to transmit records Student signs the FERPA waiver in Common App Student matches Naviance w/Common App or selects “not needed” option.

Student creates list of “Colleges I’m applying to” in Naviance and begins to request transcripts electronically. Student also submits paper transcript request form to Guidance Department.

Letters of Recommendation Generally, schools require 2 teacher recommendations. Teacher recommendations will be sent electronically, through Naviance. Teachers can, of course, still send old fashioned paper letters to the few remaining schools that do not accept electronic submissions.

Noteworthy… Three week turnaround time for transcripts First four transcripts are free, $3 per transcript after that Give teachers advance notice that requests are coming! Check Naviance and email OFTEN Update admissions status – in Naviance, in Guidance, tell teachers! All grades count! Even spring grades!! College Visits – sign up outside/in Guidance
