What is Fire? Fire consists of 3 things –heat, fuel, oxygen Fuel is anything that will combine with heat and oxygen to burn. Heat is anything that will raise a fuels temperature to the Flashpoint(Flashpoint-The temperature at which a fuel gives off enough gases to burn) The vapors in gasoline are what burn.

Fire prevention Work in a well ventilated area Never smoke or light matches near flammable materials Keep oily rags in approved containers Store combustible materials in approved containers Combustible liquids have a flashpoint at or above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Ordinary combustibles are paper, wood cloth and similar fuels.

Classes of fires Class A-Involve ordinary combustibles(wood,paper) Fought by cooling the fuel Class B- Involve grease, liquids, or gases. Fought by removing the oxygen Class C- involve energized electrical equipment. Fought by smothering the fire Class D- involve metals- fought by smothering the fire. Show fire fighting video
